Them There Tax Cheats
Byron York has a fascinating little piece in the DC Examiner explaining credibly why the Obama administration’s appointments have been so horribly plagued by tax cheats, and it’s not what we thought.
It turns out that there are no more tax cheats among Obama’s cabinet than there are among the cabinet appointments of other Presidents; it’s just that in other administrations, the nominees quietly withdraw when the tax problems become apparent. The Obama administration believed the public would not care, so they encouraged the nominees to go forward with the confirmation hearings.
This is part of the overreach we expected from the Democrats in power. The Obama administration got away with rank dishonesty, even overt criminality in the matter of campaign finance, throughout the campaign season, and the press covered for them. They thought it would continue. Having obtained a majority in Congress and holding the White House, they genuinely believe that the public has endorsed their way of doing things, and that they can expose their dirty laundry and it will make no difference. Sen. Schumer exhibited the same disdain for the public when he explained, in the smarmiest, most condescending voice imaginable, that the public does not care about pork barrel spending. He was actually bragging, displaying his corruption for the world to see, confident that it would make no difference.
It is increasingly vital that we, the people, make as much noise as possible to alert the Obama administration that we see what they’re doing, and that we do not approve. Because of the bias of the press, and because of the de-education of the public, the American system of selecting leaders is badly broken, but there are enough educated citizens to alert Washington that we will not tolerate corruption out in the open.
