A Naked Reflection on Dick Cheney

McClatchy newspapers report that a photograph of Dick Cheney on vacation generated hundreds of thousands of online comments yesterday after bloggers spotted what appeared to be a naked woman reflected in his sunglasses.

Bloggers went wild with speculation about whether the Vice President was perhaps enjoying beachfront activities a little too much. I typed “Cheney sunglasses” into Google this morning and received 190,000 hits.

Cheney’s staff wearily observed that the image was less exciting than imagined.

“Clearly the picture shows a hand casting a rod,” grumbled spokeswoman Meagan Mitchell…

McClatchy/Tribune Information Services photo editor George Bridges used the latest digital technology to enlarge the picture, took a close look at Cheney’s sunglasses and concluded that Mitchell was telling the truth.

The image is of the vice president’s hand on his fly rod.

I don’t want to hear any double entendres on “rod,” either.

And, yeah, I looked at the close-up, too.

So. How many stuck-on-stupid-libs will go to their grave believing Cheney was looking at a naked woman, and won’t change their minds no matter how much evidence is released?

Answer: All of them…
