Democratic Infants

In Michigan last August, Republicans submitted a bill to move the primary up to January 15. The Michigan Senate, which has a majority of Republicans, passed the bill. The Michigan House, which has 58 Democrats and 38 Republicans, also passed the bill. The Governor of Michigan, who is a Democrat, signed the bill. The Rules Committee of the national Democratic Party reviewed the action, ruled that there was not a good-faith effort by the state’s Democrats to stop the measure, and disqualified Michigan’s delegates from sitting at the Democratic National Convention.

According to Wayne Barrett at Huffington Post, this translates into “The GOP Rigged Michigan.” He actually blames the Republicans for forcing the national Democratic Rules Committee to disqualify Michigan, the Republicans for passing a bill in the House that the Democrats could easily have defeated, and Republicans for the Democratic Governor’s failure to veto the bill.

Un. Freaking. Believable. Could he possibly say anything more infantile?

Let’s do Florida:

Unlike in Michigan, Republicans hold most of the cards in Florida, with majorities in the Senate and the House, and a Republican governor. Then again, all but one Democratic legislator voted in favor of moving their primary up to January 29. Two Democratic members of the Florida House co-sponsored the bill. Barrett notes:

When the DNC sanctioned Florida, it critiqued the efforts of the Democratic leaders in both houses, suggesting that they’d merely gone through the motions of feigned opposition.

That’s the Democratic National Committee ruling that the Democrats’ opposition to moving the date of the primary was feigned. And again, Barrett claims “The GOP Rigged Florida.”

Just listen to the whining in this (my emphasis):

Florida’s leading news outlets, just like Michigan’s, converted an early primary into a matter of state patriotism, and that point of view, coupled with the mathematical inability to even slow the Republican push, forced Democrats to roll over.

Oh, my God. They forced them to roll over. I mean, nobody would expect them to vote their consciences, would they? Nobody I know would dare to take a stand against Florida’s leading news outlets. Why, I’ll bet those dastardly Republicans even (gasp) called those poor legislators liberals! Oh, the shame they must have felt! How could anybody possibly cast a “No” vote in the face of that demonic onslaught?

Seriously… I try to restrain myself and keep an even tone on my blog, but this is just light years beyond the pale. What a loathsome, whiny INFANT this Barrett fellow much be! Trying to blame the decision of the Democratic Rules Committee and the votes of Democratic state legislators on Republicans.

If there are more like this Barrett, no wonder there’s so much whining and crying every time a Democrat loses. No wonder they’re screaming “You cheated!” like 6-year-olds every time there’s the slightest mishap in a voting process. And no wonder they want the government to pay for all their boo-boos when they’re hurt.

Grow the hell up. I swear, if there were an emotional maturity test for voters, the Democrats would never win another election.

Infantile? I think it is just coldly calculating. The Democrat masses believe all of this stuff. They believe whatever they are told. Remember how the operatives tried to steal the 2000 election in Florida? The Democrats really think that the pushing out of extra chads was correcting errors, and that it was right to disallow the ballots of our servicemen and women. They’ll believe this, too.

A repeat of ‘68: Battles at the convention, protestors outside with tear gas and arrests, and a Republican takes the White House!

labrialumn,

So, you think there’s a thin layer of cynics over a vast sea of infantile sheep? I think that’s pretty accurate, but it’s sad.

I was shocked to read the comment from James Carville that’s below. I know it’s correct analysis, but I’m shocked that anybody actually admits it. I’d like to find a citation on it; it sounds like Carville, but I’ve never seen an actual citation on the quote.

The Democratic constituency is just like a herd of cows. All you have to do is lay out enough silage and they come running. That’s why I became an operative working with Democrats. With Democrats all you have to do is make a lot of noise, lay out the hay, and be ready to use the ole cattle prod in case a few want to bolt the herd…

The voter is basically dumb and lazy. The reason I became a Democratic operative instead of a Republican was because there were more Democrats that didn’t have a clue than there were Republicans.

Truth is relative. Truth is what you can make the voter believe is the truth. If you’re smart enough, truth is what you make the voter think it is. That’s why I’m a Democrat. I can make the Democratic voters think whatever I want them to.”

Thank you for the morning laugh. Thankfully this is entirely within the Democrat party.

Never saw this site before. I am amazed that you guys are still drinking the kool-aid. Got jobs? Got houses? Got any money after you leave the gas station? Nope. All you’ve got to cover your little asses after the Bush administration is a little bit of contempt for the OMG Democrats! Oh I am laughing! Whatever crap you get from the Republicans after this you totally deserve! Talk about shooting yourself in the foot and calling it a victory–that’s voting Republican!

rukiddingme produces what I find to be typical of leftists — snark without a single supporting reason.

The genuine cause of the housing crisis is government interference in loan approval criteria, and a sea of money from Fannie Mae to encourage marginal home loans (see http://www.plumbbobblog.com/?p=213). That happened in 1995, under Clinton.

The genuine causes of the high gas prices are:

  • Continued growth in demand from the Asian Rim;
  • Continued resistance to building any new oil refineries;
  • Political instability in major US oil sources, like Nigeria and Iran;
  • Weakness of the US dollar.

The Bush administration is partly responsible for the last item on the list, but not for any of the others. The bizarre notion that “Bush = Oil” is one of the truly funny tinfoil hat memes of the hard left, who know enough about economics to fill the period at the end of this sentence.

Thats what I love about the left today. They dont let the truth get in the way of their beliefs.
Huffpo wants to tell us that its the Rupublicans fault for the meltdown in the DNC. Hillary may miss her coronation so ole Howard Dean needs a boogeyman to blame.
The insanity of sniper fire and the religious left make McCain a better looking candidate all the time. Thanks Howard!

rukiddingme,

I was not able to discern the point you were trying to make.

Sorry,

Eccles,

He was reminding us how awful George Bush’s presidency has been.

Oh, and he thinks I get paid by the RNC to write this stuff, or maybe I get fee T-shirts. If he knows where I can sign up to get these goodies, I wish he’d fill me in. I could use the extra bucks, and I wouldn’t even turn down a “Hippies Smell” T-shirt.

I am a recent College Graduate. I’m 45, have a wife, two kids, two beagles, a cat, two cars, and a mortgage. I went back to school to finish at 42. When I took a Poli Sci class (State and Local politics) there was a liberal in the class who, within the first 10 minuts, spouted the old “Bush is stupid” screed. I challenged him, held his feet to the fire, and in front of the class made him ’support’ his statement. After a few minutes, he had to give in and say that Bush wasn’t stupid, but that he disagreed with him. Our professor, who turned out to be pretty fair, allowed the debate to continue. Two liberals quit the class, and my friend ended up way more right wing than he ever thought he would. When libs are challenged and forced to defend their remarks, they crumble, witness the Reagan vs. Dukakis debates. McCain should watch and study Reagan (”There you go again, Jimmy…”) and challenge Obama, it’ll be just like ‘68 again: Strife and division in the Democrat convention, rioting, tear gas and arrests outside, and a Republican in the White House!
