Squaring the Culture

"...and I will make justice the plumb line, and righteousness the level;
then hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
and the waters will overflow the secret place."

Spitzer Wives

Cato Institute’s Arnold Kling wants to nominate new terms for the dictionary: “Spitzer,” a politician with totalitarian impulses, and “Spitzer Wives,” citizens who love Spitzers. Conservative writer Roger Kimball concurs with style, noting our own legion of born-again Leninists.

The Spitzers in the legislature say they need to spend more of our money this year? What happened, did the Empereror’s Club raise their rates again?

I’ve already said enough about Mr. Spitzer, whose use of blackmail to impose his morality on businessmen in New York was far worse than the peccadillo that drove him from public life. Kimball says more, and better.
