The New Party Story is Back

I reported back in June, drawing on research by Rick Moran at Right Wing Nuthouse and Erick Ericson at RedState, about Obama’s endorsement by the New Party when he sought office in Illinois back in the 1990s. This morning, that story is back, based on reporting by Politically Drunk With Power, which produced documents identifying Barack Obama as a candidate for the New Party and for Democratic Socialists of America.

The most damning thing from where I sit is not so much that Obama shows up on New Party fliers, but that efforts are being made to scrub these bits of evidence from web sites. This is consistent with the Obama campaign’s efforts to bully radio stations into refusing to air interviews with reporters like Stanley Kurtz or David Freddoso, and to dissociate himself with obviously radical friends like the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Father Michael Pfleger, foreign policy advisor Samantha Power, William Ayers, Islamic fund-raiser Hatem al-Hady, and others. It is not the case that Obama formed ordinary associations along the way that inadvertently sound ominous in retrospect. Rather, it is the case that he knows his past associations will expose something that does not fit his current narrative, and he’s going out of his way to erase them. Methinks he doth protest too much.

Let’s make this clear: it’s not wrong for a Socialist to run for office in the United States, it’s their right. It is morally wrong, however, for a Socialist to run while deliberately pretending to be something other than a Socialist. Representative democracy like ours demands that candidates present themselves fairly and honestly; while we understand that there’s some amount of jockeying for niches among voters, we rely on politicians giving us at least a general idea of where they stand. For a Socialist to represent himself as a centrist Democrat specifically because he knows the public will not vote for a Socialist is not just deeply immoral, it’s a deliberate attempt to take down the system. Obama should be tarred and feathered, and run out of town on a rail.

American Thinker finally said what I’ve been thinking for the better part of a year: Obama was “groomed by an older generation of radical leftists for insertion into the American political process…” He’s a Trojan Horse candidate for the hard left.

Hot Air comes up with how this is likely to play in the media, if it gets any attention at all: it’s all about judgment. Referring to David Brooks’ supercilious honking for The Atlantic at HuffPo this morning about Obama’s intellectual prowess (and Palin’s lack thereof,) Allahpundit wonders how Obama’s alleged acute perception is going to square with his string of protestations about what he didn’t know about his friends.

Truly, except for Ayers’s terrorist background, Wright’s sermons, Pfleger’s race-baiting, and the NP, his awareness of what’s going on around him is laser sharp.

The fact is, though, he knows all about his friends, and he’s been lying about them all along. They’re all hard leftists, and he’s one of them.

Hi Phil, I’ve been reading Plumbbob for quite some time now, ever since I discovered inkling_revival on Town Hall. I am glad to have you as a resource and often recommend your blog to family and friends for your insight.

Obama scares the hell out of me as everyday something new is coming out about him and his associations with socialist radicals. And everyday the press ignores it. This morning Fox and Friends reported the story that ACORN Admitted that there is voter fraud and they can’t do anything about it. And they also mentioned Obama’s ties to them and then Michele Malkin pointed out how BHO is trying to deny any ties.

I am so sick of the lies and am wondering who is finally going to start standing up to this cr@p and make Obama finally give some straight answers? Will someone please get word to the McCain camp that Americans want to know.

Hi back, Marc, and welcome. Nice of you to drop in and speak up.

This morning Fox and Friends reported the story that ACORN Admitted that there is voter fraud and they can’t do anything about it.

Isn’t that a crock? They could carefully instruct their volunteers regarding what’s legal. They could cross-verify their cards before they turn them in. They could turn in voter registrations as they’re gathered instead of dropping 40,000 applications on the registrar’s desk the last day of legal registration. They could admit that the process is out of control and stop participating in it.

I think they’re doing it on purpose. It wouldn’t be that consistent otherwise.

It remains to be seen whether Obama’s background will be exposed properly. I’ve been trying for months, but I’m tiny and partisan. It’s astonishing to me that the man has gotten this far already, but it’s a symptom of an already-deceived electorate. Review the video I posted Tuesday for one of the reasons; but also note that a philosophical cousin of Marxism has been targeting the education system in America for 100 years, and that affective domain education is ready-made for inculcating students with ideological blinders. We’ve been targeted and taken down.

Phil, thanks or responding to me. I hope your blog never gets so big that you can’t respond to your readers.

I watched the video you posted Tuesday, scary stuff, and it seems that it’s all coming to fruition.

On my lunch break I briefly heard McCain and Palin at a stump in Wisconsin and the people in the audience seemed pretty fired up. I noticed that one guy brought up the word Socialist referring to Obama, Pelosi and the rest of the democrats. Another person brought up ACORN and McCain was pretty fired up about that too.

Maybe it will finally come to a head, but I have my doubts. For now I am coming to the realization that we may be cursed with four years of an Obama presidency and more years of Obama legislation.

On a side note, I look forward to reading what you post about “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist”.

I do not believe this will really hit the day to day MSM news. They are totally vested in an Obama win (just ask Sen. Clinton) and either (1) full well understand how this could negatively impact his candidacy and so will cynically spike it or spin it to make it seem of no consequence; or (2) genuinely feel it is irrelevant because he is a liberal Democrat who will be good for the country if he does win.

I look for the race card to be played by Sen. Obama and his acolytes in the MSM on this soon so as not to let the truth get out of hand; or simply dismissed as “old news”, “Swiftboating”, or “fear-mongering by the right”.

But really, let’s assume we had a Republican candidate who had say, received his education at Hillsdale College; been associated with David Duke shortly after college and still counted him a friend (saying “David may have had some reprehensible views at one time”), worshiped at a fundamentalist Christian church with a leader who was outspoken with strong segregationist views and who had baptized him; contributed to this church; helped channel dollars to a conservative ACORN type organization; and had a 100% hard right voting record.

Is there ANYONE naive or partisan enough to deny the MSM would be all over this like cheap suits, busily doing their work of “connecting the dots” so that we can all be better informed? And that it would be all over 60 Minutes, the nightly news, and other liberal news outlets ad nauseum?

The information deficit or crisis in this country is beyond frustrating.

RM,

You are correct in your assessment of the MSM. The result is we have a candidate for POTUS, Obama, who is not being properly vetted.

I am sure you have seen this story:

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=76933

BTW, in your hypothetical, the MSM would not allow a Republican candidate, (with baggage analogous to that of Obama), to run for dog catcher, let alone POTUS.

Ken,

Thanks for the link. Had not heard all the details of this controversy, but am surprised NBC, ABC, and CBS are not contributing money to help defend the lawsuit.
