Flag Update
I posted an email from Redstate.com a few days ago regarding flags in the trash at the Democratic National Convention. It’s now being reported that the DNC made no plans to properly dispose of the flags they handed out, and intended instead to put them into a landfill. They were rescued by a worker at Invesco Field and given to the Republicans, who used them in a rally in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin — telling the story of how they got there, naturally.
David Harsanyi from the Denver Post sports a picture and the response from the Democrats, who claim they intended to use the flags again and that they were taken without permission. This seems unlikely, as the flags were sitting on a dock near the trash at Invesco field 8 full days after the convention. Read the updates on Harsanyi’s article to get the full story. Hot Air also comments.
I think it’s clear that there was no vicious anti-flag burying plan; I think Democrats just don’t care all that much, and never thought about the fact that there’s actually a protocol for disposing of flags. However, I think “they just don’t care all that much” says something relevant.
